The mixing elements of a helical-type static mixer are mounted inside the housing pipe. These mixing elements consist of a 90-degree rotated counterclockwise helical element connected to a clockwise helical element. The fluid moves from the pipe periphery toward the center, and as it passes through the fixed mixing elements, the flow direction repeatedly alternates. The flow reversal between counterclockwise and clockwise directions converts the fluid from a laminar to a turbulent state, inducing more efficient mixing.
